I use the following types of therapies in my work:

Imago Relationship Therapy

Imago Relationship Therapy was developed by Harville Hendrix and his wife, Helen LaKelly Hunt, based on their experience of mending relationships, including their own marriage. Harville is author of Getting the Love You Want, and has appeared at least 16 times on the Oprah Winfrey Show. Imago focuses on building trust in relationships by teaching communications skills that crate feelings of safety.

As a certified Imago Relationship Therapist, Judith treats couples in all types and stages of relationship. In session, she teaches clients the Intentional Dialogue, a tool that they may use in therapy as well as at home. The safety that dialogue provides creates an atmosphere where couples are able to share more thoughts and feelings and be heard by one another. When we are heard, our partner is able to validate our thinking process and enables our partner to feel empathy.

Judith co-facilitates Imago Getting The Love You Want couples workshops at her office, in Wellington, NS, with Maureen Brine, the first Certified Imago Instructor in Canada. One of these weekend workshops was written up in MACLEAN’S magazine article (May 15th, 2006).

Read an interview with Harville Hendrix, by Sarah Hampson, in the Globe and Mail (June 11, 2010).

Modern Psychoanalysis

Hyman Spotnitz is the father of Modern Psychoanalysis. Modern psychoanalysts help patients resolve their resistances to maturation by helping them "say everything". Modern psychoanalysis is known as the talking cure. Information on Modern Psychoanalysis is found in Wikipedia and at the Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies.

Ego State Therapy

Ego State Therapy utilizes techniques to resolve internal conflicts. By gaining access to different ego states and establishing communication with these ego states with a therapist, clients' problems can more easily be resolved. These concepts are explained in the book Ego States: Theory and Therapy, by its founders John and Helen Watkins, as well as in Wikipedia.

Hypnosis, in conjunction with psychotherapy, assists clients to achieve a state of relaxation whereby clients are better able to achieve their goals. Information on hypnotherapy.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) provides a structured protocol that assists clients to process information. More information is available at the EMDR Institute website.
